SAS is partially water soluble and water dispersible; SAS is highly sulfonated by unique process which leads to partially oil soluble as well. So SAS can be used both in water-based and oil-based drilling fluid system.
SAS can plug stratum cracks, prevent shale collapse and inhibit shale hydration. It reduces high temperature fluid loss, lowers torque & drag, and stabilizes shale formation & aids oil emulsification.
